Pink Wedding Dresses from Spring 2013

Long before runways ran wild with colorful wedding gowns, stars like Reese Witherspoon and Gwen Stefani wore blush dresses down the aisle, ushering in demand for softly hued looks. Now, seasons later, pink wedding dresses have officially debuted as a key trend for Spring 2013.

Brides are very feminine. What color is more feminine than pink? Gwen Stefani wore a stunning pink wedding gown, while Reese Witherspoon wore one for her own 2011 wedding, as well as at her fictional wedding as character Elle Woods. A very subtle shade of pink will have your guests wondering if you're really wearing pink or if it's just the lighting. Pink wedding gowns can be ideal for spring or summer weddings, as well as fairytale themed weddings.

Following the fashion crowd: Jessica Biel stepped out wearing a cotton candy-coloured Giambattista Valli dress as she tied the knot with Justin Timberlake in Italy last week

When it came to selecting the perfect gown for her Oct. 19 wedding to Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel was a bit overwhelmed.

“It’s so hard to choose the dress,” she tells PEOPLE, which features exclusive photos and details from the couple’s special day in this week’s issue.

To help her along, the bride turned to longtime friend and designer, Giambattista Valli. “I was really comfortable talking to him about something really important like this,” says the actress, 30.

Ultimately, Valli created a custom petal-pink strapless gown of silk mousseline and silk organza with a light-pink floral motif that “was whimsical and dramatic,” says Biel. Her wedding look also included a heartfelt detail: Her floor-length veil was adorned with pearls from her grandmother’s wedding day tiara.

Valli also outfitted Biel’s four bridesmaids along with her mom, Kim, and Timberlake’s mother, Lynn Harless, for the big day.

As the reception rolled on into the wee hours, Biel changed into a silk shantung and macrame lace strapless dress from Valli’s spring collection.

Many brides who consider wearing pink wedding dresses are concerned that it would be a bit much or considered too trendy for a wedding (not that others' opinions really matter all that much). If this is you, consider a dress with touches of pink or mixed in with white or ivory. Either way, you'll still be the bell of the ball:

Your pink wedding dress does not have to be hot pink (unless that is what you want). There are pink wedding dresses available in many light shades of pink.

A tie or vest in the same shade of pink as your dress would work well for your husband-to-be. If his tux is white, you all will make a really dreamy looking pair.

Many brides are opting for chocolate or brown colored bridesmaids dresses. If you like this combination, go for it. If you don't like the idea of mixing a springish color with a fallish color, let your bridesmaids wear white dresses and carry pink flowers! The options are endless but just should suit your wedding vision.

This might sound a little over the top but if you really want to make a statement, put everyone else in white or ivory. If you must have a little pink, consider the options in the steps above.
